The Beauty of Looking Up

I love guided walks when I was in New York, even though I was always one of the rare few residents among the tourist crowd. Somehow, I always learned something new and that was what makes living in New York such a beautiful experience!  Maki joined me in this walk through the West Village. It was end of Summer in 2008 (almost 4 years ago!) We started off at Washington Square Park. I looked up and see the gorgeous view of the Washington Square Arch above me, set against clear blue skies.  In case you are wondering, this arch was modeled after the 1806 Arc de Triomphe in Paris. One of my most favorite streets in New York, Washington Mews, is just round the corner from the WS Arch. Pictures will follow.

I love/miss the experience of being stunned and the feeling of sunshine when I look up, which we don’t do enough in the cement jungle.
