Eating With Family

There is something magical when people gather around a dining table to enjoy a meal together.

Perhaps it’s the ambience, perhaps it’s the food or just simply the positive aura we exude when we satisfy our appetite with good food. We relax, we laugh. Life’s understated pleasure: eating with family!

It’s been a long while since the six of us meet up for a meal. (Ok, sparkling water for me since I’m on a cleanse!) Looking forward to the next one!

Useful Information

From Your Singapore.com:  “(Robertson Quay) The most laidback of the three quays along the Singapore River, this largely residential estate has become a real entertainment enclave with bars, restaurants, cafés, performing arts houses and art galleries.

It’s quite a change from its historical roots as an area filled with offices and warehouses, populated by early settlers of Singapore looking for work.

Fast forward 200 years and Robertson Quay is now a completely different space. Not only is it home to a mix of local and expat residents, the area also houses The Singapore Tyler Print Institute, which has free print and paper art installations. If you’re into theatre, one of Singapore’s most progressive theatre companies, TheatreWorks, is nearby, as is the Singapore Repertory Theatre, well known for their acclaimed productions of classic pieces like Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

There’s a multitude of dining options to be found including Australian pub grub at Boomarang Bistro & Bar, Belgian establishment Brussels Sprouts which serves up some delicious mussels and fries and possesses an extensive craft beer list, and for French fare, you can’t go wrong at Brasserie Wolf.

You can enjoy some of the best pizzas in town at Bella Pizza, or sample some good Japanese barbeque at yakitori specialist Aburiya or a piping hot bowl of ramen at hugely popular Sapporo Ramen Miharu.

Over the weekends, you’ll find families brunching at European-style deli and café, Epicurious and hip outfit Graze nearby.

The afternoons and evenings lend themselves particularly well to slow strolls along the Singapore River. Be sure to look out for the multi-coloured Alkaff Bridge, which was painted by Filipino artist, Pacita Abad in 2004.

As the night approaches, bars ……
